Daniel Kaluuya Stars In Latest 'Judas And The Black Messiah' Trailer

Daniel Kaluuya stars Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton in the latest trailer for Judas and the Black Messiah. In the new teaser, Kaluuya plays alongside Dominique Fishback, his love interest, throughout the film. Intertwined throughout the sneak peek, viewers watch LaKeithStanfield play the role of an informant who is threatened by law enforcement determined to take down Hampton.

Judas and the Black Messiah is the first Hollywood production to spotlight the life of Fred Hampton. Hampton was a revolutionary figure in the Chicago area who helped to align Chicago street gangs, community leaders and religious leaders in a fight against social injustice. As Hampton rose to prominence, FBI broke into his home and shot him during a predawn raid. Federal authorities ultimately ruled that the shooting was justified.

"It wasn't easy on the heart, if I'm being honest," Kaluuya said about the process of playing the role of Hampton.

"There were days that you just felt... low with the weight of the reality. To be channeling those ideas, that time and that dynamic, it lay heavy on the cast."

Alongside Fishback, Stanfield and Kaluuya, Martin Sheen, Ashton Sanders, Lil' Rel Howery and Jesse Plemons star in the film. Shaka King will make his debut at the helm of a major Hollywood picture.

Judas and the Black Messiah will debut on HBO MAX during Black History Month. The final trailer for the upcoming film is available now.
